D.C. Access to Justice Foundation
Financial support for the Commission is provided through the District of Columbia Access to Justice Foundation, a 501(c)(3) created for the purpose of raising and receiving funds for the Commission. The Foundation has a separate Board of Directors which is responsible for securing donations to support the Commission's work. Neither the Foundation nor the Commission receives any public funds and therefore relies entirely on local law firms and individuals for donations. The Commission is fortunate to have the generous and steadfast support of a number of leading law firms and other private donors. The Commission is also profoundly grateful for vital in–kind support provided by a number of leading law firms and other entities. Venable LLP provides the Commission with free office space, equipment, and office services. DLA Piper is the Commission's pro bono research counsel. Steptoe & Johnson LLP is the Foundation's pro bono general counsel. Goodwin Procter LLP provides space for the Commission's general meetings. The Raben Group has provided invaluable counseling and support on the Commission's public funding advocacy. Scott Sobel at Media and Communication Strategies provided critical support to the Commission in its launch of the Raising the Bar Campaign. The National Law Journal serves as the official media sponsor of the Raising the Bar Campaign and has greatly helped to publicize this crucial initiative. The Commission could not be effective without the generous assistance of these organizations.
